In the opening years of the next century, interplanetary war rages between the powers that rule Earth, the Universal Trade Zone (UTZ) with the New catholic Church (NcC), and those exiled to outdated holdings on Mars, the Universal Islamic Nation (UIN). Bernard Campion – BC – is the Vatican Abdicator. He left the papacy of the NcC to try to unite and lead humanity in a two-front war against the alien race known as the Eldred and against Dolomay, a fresh from suspended animation survivor of those now called the Ancient Enemy.
