Just finished writing this. I'm about to send it to you. If you didn't get it, and would like to, please email and tell me (glowinthedarkradio@gmail.com):
Happy Thanksgiving! Been a while – March – since I sent you one of these newsletter things. Busy with work. Some of the "fruits" of those labors are now ready for "picking" – time to take a break from making stuff to share some of them with you. As always, if you'd rather not get an update like this from me, please let me know.
I've got a lot to be thankful for this year. Back at work full time on the radio since May on The Point... On the air weekdays 10a 'til 3p, I'm also the Music Director, a job I love! The station streams live on the internet – give a listen if you like:
http://pointfm.com. The format is Triple A – AAA – Adult Album Alternative... a great, diverse mix: contemporary stuff, indy releases like Junip and Good Old War, pop from Jack Johnson, Train, John Mayer, Five For Fighting, Michael Franti and others, older tunes from Bob Marley, Talking Heads, U2, Peter Gabriel, Beatles, Dire Straits... local favorites Phish and now Grace Potter and the Nocturnals... we play a lot of stuff. It's a great "day job" :)
Nights and weekends are devoted to writing and creating... I'm in the middle of production and lettering on
Vatican Assassin – The Graphic Novel Adaptation Issue #3.
Cristian Navarro has finished the 24 pages of art. I hope we can have the book out before the end of December. This is a comic book version of my first novel. We follow BC – Bernard Campion – he kills people for the Pope of the New catholic Church in the year 2109, while an interplanetary religious war rages on!You can read the first two issues for free online or get a print copy at
http://vaticanassassin.com.
I'm proud to introduce you to the artist on my new book Good Samaritan: Unto Dust #1 – Federico Guillen! He has done some amazing work! Juan Carlos Quattordio introduced the two of us, as Federico was looking to work on his first American comic book. His work is a revelation – pun intended. He has his own realistic pencil-sketch style that fits the setting of the tale.
The Story: It's 1965 in Boston, Massachusetts. Father Bill Sullivan is a Roman Catholic priest who wields an awesome power he believes is given to him by God: The "Power of the Holy Spirit." Good Samaritan (as he calls himself) occasionally renders ultimate judgment - turning criminals into dust while proclaiming, "Remember Man that thou art DUST and unto dust thou shall return!"
The print issue is now available through
Indy Planet, and the pages are being released for free reading on Sundays and Wednesdays – page 10 just went up today. Get to either or both at
http://goodsamaritanuntodust.com.
You're also going to love the work of
Meisha, the artist on the other new project of mine that's just come out. He and I collaborated on the 16 page short story
Alibi Jones: Blind Eye that you'll find in
Earthbound Comics' new anthology
Spacebound #1. In this prequel to the novel
Alibi Jones, Alibi attends a diplomatic affair for his Aunt Anita and discovers the new colony of
Poyas is not what it seems... You can read a preview and get a link to buy the book over at
http://alibijones.com. Check out Meisha's art – he's given Alibi a definitive look!
Speaking of checking out the work of my artists... We've put together a calendar featuring 12 images from the comics – check out The
Glow-in-the-Dark Radio Comics 2011 Calendar here:
http://www.cafepress.com/glowinthedarkradio.471275727. Cafe Press does a beautiful job with their printing. Every page is heavy, semi-gloss paper, and the color reproduction is brilliant and true.
I'm still doing a weekly
Glow-in-the-Dark Radio podcast – just starting to feature the chapters of my
Vatican Abdicator audiobook. You'll find the link to that, my blog, all my books, calendars and free stuff on my home page. Just pop on over to
http://glowinthedarkradio.com for more about any of this stuff. Or drop me an email.
Well... that's enough from me this time. Hope your holiday weekend is all that you wish it to be!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Mike
